Kristina Rolander

visual art - installation Milwaukee, WC

KRISTINA ROLANDER is a Milwaukee-based interdisciplinary artist. She creates large-scale installations and murals, as well as small-scale paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works. Each piece is a whimsical portal into another world. Giant neon plants, handwritten text, psychedelic patterns, and bits of childhood nostalgia are woven together in a wash of color meant to induce wonder and inspire awe. Her art exists as a quiet reminder that there is magic in the everyday, waiting to be discovered by those willing to seek it out. In addition to her independent studio practice, she has partnered with several non-profit arts organizations serving youth in the city of Milwaukee. Her work with Arts @ Large, Artists Working in Education, Arts and Science Literacy Camp, and Milwaukee Public Schools has brought artmaking experiences to hundreds of students. By engaging in short-term projects and empowering youth through the creative process, her work illustrates the healing power of artmaking and its potential to help us better understand the human experience.
