Workshop : Algorithmic Music and Live Coding @The Dandy
4:00 - 6:00 PM Friday 17 June FREE
- Workshop
An introductory workshop for individuals interested in learning about algorithmic music and live coding. This topic would be presented through a tutorial-style session in which participants are led through the basics of TidalCycles, a coding language created in 2009 by Alex McLean.Gaining an understanding of TidalCycles can be an amazing gateway into a world of other open source languages and a close community of experimental music makers who are at the forefront of computer music composition. The language is intuitive, free to use, and easy to learn (no previous coding skills required). This workshop is recommended for anyone with an interest in loop-based computer music and complex patterns.
Participants just require a laptop / computer - nothing else is required. If you require a laptop or a computer to participate, please email us at flourishfredericton@gmail.com and we will hook you up!
Drop-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is highly encouraged to secure your space.
