Rana Abbout and Chantelle Paiu

visual art - installation Fredericton

Rana is a Lebanese artist who relocated to Fredericton two years ago. She holds a BA in Film and Theatre, awarded in 2001. With over twenty years of international experience as a wardrobe stylist and costume designer, Rana also boasts more than three years of expertise as a set decorator for films and TV commercials. Currently, she is channeling her passion for styling into the world of doll making as the co-founder of Nanuk & Rour. As a mother of two young children, Rana has a keen interest in observing behaviour and the human psyche to understand patterns. She brings high levels of empathy and a profound sense of justice to her work, both artistically and politically. Rana's art is deeply influenced by her experiences with bigotry and years of gaslighting, transforming her empathy and anger into powerful creative expression. Painting by the palestinian artist Sliman Mansour. Chantelle is Palestinian-Canadian, and a vocal activist for social justice. She is previous chair of the Ontario Palestinian Rights Association, and continues her dedicated work in local Palestinian advocacy within her new community in New Brunswick. She co-founded the Conscious Birth Collective, providing support for women during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, while also organizing events for women at all stages of life. Now a new mother, Chantelle finds joy in her family life while remaining committed to creating positive change in her community and beyond.
