INTO WONDERLAND is a hand-painted, hand-crafted immersive installation by Kristina Rolander. This fantastical world is inspired by the classic children’s book Alice in Wonderland and illustrations from Disney’s 1950s Golden Books series. This piece plays with our perspective of art and reality, propelling us to somewhere beyond what we already know. KRISTINA ROLANDER is an American interdisciplinary artist. Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she creates large-scale installations and murals, as well as small-scale paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works. Each piece is a whimsical portal into another world. Giant neon plants, psychedelic patterns, and bits of childhood nostalgia are woven together in a wash of color meant to induce wonder and inspire awe. Her art exists as a quiet reminder that there is magic in the everyday, waiting to be discovered by those willing to seek it out.
